Assistant Rabbi – Michael Wolk

A native of Long Island, Michael Wolk has been involved with synagogues his entire life.  One of his favorite early memories is playing shul on Saturday morning at home when he could not make it to Shabbat services.

Beginning with his Bar Mitzvah, Michael took an active role in leading services from the Bimah and learned many skills from his father, a cantor.   After graduating from Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary’s List College, Michael spent a year serving as the ritual director of Congregation Agudas Achim in Columbus, Ohio.   It was this wonderful experience that confirmed to Michael that he truly wanted to become a rabbi.   Now finishing his third year of rabbinic studies, Michael has studied in both New York and Israel.   In the first three years of rabbinical school, Michael has served as the summer rabbi at Temple Israel of Putnam Valley and the rabbinic intern at the East Meadow Jewish Center.
In his free time, Michael is an aficionado of cantorial music and has spent some time studying classical singing on an amateur level.   He is also an avid jogger, so expect to see him jogging around the streets of Middletown soon.   He has been happy to already have met some other long-suffering NY Mets fans in the Temple Sinai community and looks forward to commiserating after hard losses and celebrating with you after the occasional win.
